I am Back and FO: Elsinore Pullover

I won't go into lots of detail, but this is just a few of things that have happened  the last couple of months.

The last few months have been pretty dramatic for us. In October, we finally got married after 17 plus years.(This was a good thing), but on our wedding day we got a phone call that my sweet little Mom passed away. I was very sad and I will miss her, but know she is at peace and in a better place.  Two days after Mom passed, my dad became very ill and was admitted to the hospital. (He is okay now, thanks goodness!)

December we went back to Virginia to see my very ill father in law and two days after we left VA, we got a phone call on Christmas Day that he had passed. We flew back to VA for his funeral on New Year's Eve.

Believe it or not through all this, I have been knitting.

I finished two sweaters and 8 Cashmere scarves and one Musk Ox scarf.

Cobweb 1-ply Heirloom Lace Knitting "Rosebud Shawl"

I am currently working on two main projects with deadlines. They both need to be complete by October, 15, 2007. The first project is the beaded shawl and the second one is this Cobweb Lace Shetland Shawl. The pattern is Sharon Miller's Heirloom Knitting called "Rosebud Shetland Shawl". I am using a one ply Cobweb Yarn from Jamieson & Smith Shetland Wool Brokers in the color White and on a size 4  Skacel Turbo Lace needle. This is my first time using the new lace needles from  Skacel and I love them. No slipping or dragging stitches. The points are just perfect for lace. They tell me they will be getting the zero sizes in after the first of the year, which I will need for some future projects. I am planning on making some other Ultralace patterns with some Grossamer CashSilk thread and another one  with the Grossamer 100% silk thread. The silk thread and the Cashmere Silk both have a beautiful Sheen. I am excited about knitting with both of these beautiful threads.

Beaded Eyelet

"Beaded Eyelet" a Shapely Shawlette by Judy Pascale is in process. I finished the first set of pattern.This was   started this on Friday 08/31/2007. I am enjoying the beading process. The crochet hook method is much nicer and easier than stringing the beads on the yarn before you start method. It is difficult to see the beads in the photo, but believe me, "they are there".

Starsky Jr. I used Rowan Yorkshire Tweed dk in the color Frolic, which has been discontinued. The designer is Jordana Paige. Started July 2007 finished August 28. 2007.

"Dylan Finally Arrived"

After 48.5 hours of labor and two hours of pushing Dylan finally arrived. I felt so sorry for my granddaughter. This first picture is of Great, Great Grandma and Dylan and the second picture is Tamara and Dylan.

"Hear ye, Hear Ye" I'm Starting A New Project"

This should be interesting!! It is called "Beaded Eyelet" a Shapely Shawlette by Judy Pascale. When we were in Virginia (which, by the way, we will be going back again in October) this last spring, my husband's Aunt Sylvia drove me around to LYS and I told her to pick out something she would like me to make for her. I will just mention "IT HAS OVER 2000 Clear SEED BEADS". I am using Cherry Hill 100 % Merino fingering weight (two Skeins) on a size 9 needle  and a 1.25mm crochet for the beads. I ordered the beads and they should arrive tomorrow. The yarn color is called "Silver Streak".

It is from Knitty.com and called Starsky Jr. I used Yorkshire Tweed dk in the color Frolic, which has been discontinued. The designer is Jordana Paige. Started July 2007 finished August 28. 2007. Victoria's tenth birthday sweater... I finished this project just in time. Victoria's birthday is tomorrow. AND....... Tamara is in the hospital in labor, so I will have a new great grandson tonight or early tomorrow. Maybe, even on Victoria's birthday.

Kitsap County Fair Exhibitions

I made a trip to the fair this morning to check on my knitting exhibitions and check out some of the other talented people in our area. There are really some talented knitters in the area. I very pleased when I saw that I have a couple of blue ribbons and a "Best of Class".

"The rest of the WEEK" and "Romantic Knits by Annie Modesitt"

Well, I am pleased to announce the rest of the week is going well. I got to work in my garden yesterday. I plan on getting back out there again tomorrow.  Working out in my garden is very calming to me.

Sunday is our local knitting group meet-up. I am looking forward to this.

Yesterday the Postal Service brought my new Romantic Knits by Annie Modesitt. I originally looked at ordering the book to support Annie as her husband Gerry is very ill and going through Chemo, but I am pleased to say I am love the book and have picked out several projects to make.

You should also check out her "Red carpet Convertible" dress. She had designed the dress for a friend to wear to the Emmy's. It is so beautiful and the donations go for a fund to help out with the extra expenses for Gerry.
